Decided to digi-scrap some of my fireworks photos from Canada Day. This will go in the year-in-review book that I'm putting together. The top of the layout is a number of photos placed together to form the group.
For those of you with experience printing 2-page spreads....how do I get it ready to send to print (in 2 files). I am using Photoshop Elements 6.0. Will I lose any image quality if it gets cropped? Or should I use the resize canvas funtion. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The word for Day 16 (yesterday) was LOVE. But.....I just couldn't resist switching things up a bit. You see, Day 15 was July 1 which is of course Canada Day and I thought it prudent to try to capture some of the Canada Day festivites on film. It just so happens that in the June issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine, there is an awesome article about shooting fireworks. It is excpetionally easy to understand, and I followed it to the letter (even taking my tripod to the park). Suffice it to say, that I was NOT disappointed with the results. While it's true, it took me a few tries to get it right, I had never played with the Bulb Exposure setting on my camera before, and it was surprisingly easy. Here is my best shot (in my opinion anyway). I think you can really 'see' the movement.
So because I changed things up a bit to fit this photo into my challenge, I will photograph LOVE on Friday. The gals in the group have posted some really neat shots with that theme already so I'll really have to put my thinking cap on to come up with a good one. Wish me luck.

For the last couple of nights we've had lots of thunderstorm activity in my area. So, last night on a whim, I stepped outside with camera in hand to practice some night photography (something I struggle with). My husband thought I was crazy and just didn't 'get it', but I had fun....and that's all that matters right?
As you might have experienced, night photography is tricky at the best of times, but I was trying to capture lightning --- even trickier yet as it is so unpredictable. I wasn't seeing actual bolts from where I sat, but saw lots of electric activity illuminating the clouds. All tolled I took 33 shots, and these ones are the only ones that were even remote keepers. I realize that the composition is terrible with the tops of vehicles and the hydro line in the frame, but nonetheless they look pretty cool (at least I think so).
We're expecting more thunderstorms over the next few days too, so I'm going to try again for sure! Hopefully, I'll be lucky enough to catch and actual bolt next time. Perhaps I should be brave enough to venture away from the comfort of my front porch!
