New -- You Know You Rock Challenge Blog

I happened across this new blog when perusing Allison's "Newly Discovered" list, and while they are just fresh - I will definately be keeping an eye on them. They will post a new challenge monthly, and if you choose to accept it, you will have 2 weeks to create. The remaining 2 weeks of the month will be for voting. I'm not sure how that's going to work, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Their first challenge was posted July 6, so there is still lots of time to get involved and play. In their words.... "Here's CHALLENGE #1 - ROCK THE COVER!Take a look at the CD in your player. Check out the art on the cover and be inspired in some way! We're not going to be literal here. Just take an element that you like and use it in a card!" Doesn't that sound like fun? I wonder what's loaded in my player right now....I must go check.

{Photo-A-Day} Catch up Day 15 and a RAK

The word for Day 15 was ROUND. I missed taking my photo on the actual day, but I took this one yesterday instead. It's a really weird onion (at least I think it's weird since I'm not a gardener) that grows at my in-laws farm. I'm fairly certain it's not a green onion as I suspect the bulb part of those plants grows 'in' the ground, and I'm almost positive that it's not a cooking onion -- so while I can't identify it, I thought the shape was really fabulous.

Our focus this week is on lighting, and I think I got some really neat high and low light in this one too -- from the shadowed area near the bottom centre of the onion clump, to the shiny area on the outstretched 'limb'. {I am having waaay too much fun!}

BONUS: If you can identify this onion for me -- leave me a comment here and you'll get a RAK from me in the mail.

Fun With Flickr

Here's a fun game that is being passed around the blogosphere -- Mosaic Meme. It's really neat and you should give it a try, and it's really simple. Simply answer the following 12 questions and type your answers into the search box at Flickr. Choose a photo from the 'first' page of photos that pop up in your search response, and click on it. When you get to the photo url, simply copy the web address and paste it here in Mosaic Maker. What your mosaic looks like when you're done could surprise you. Here's the questions:

What is your first name?
What is your favorite food?
What high school did you attend?
What is your favorite color?
Who is your celebrity crush?
What is your favorite drink?
Where would you go on your dream vacation?
What is your favorite dessert?
What do you want to be when you grow up?
What do you love most in life?
What is the one word that describes you?
What is your Flickr name?
And here's my mosaic. Can you figure out what I searched for?
